District Comprehensive Improvement Plan

Looking for school leadership, staff, parents, and students to participate in a meaningful opportunity to develop a district plan for improvement. Please read below for more details:

On August 22nd, a letter regarding the anticipated accountability status of the district was sent to parents from the office of the Superintendent. Please be advised that the State officially released the designations on August 30th as follows: John L. Edward Primary School, good standing; Montgomery C. Smith Intermediate School, good standing; Hudson Jr.-Sr. High School, Focus; Hudson City School District, Focus. Whenever one school is designated as Focus, the district is automatically placed in Focus status.

Each Superintendent had the option to accept these designations or select another. The Hudson City School District is committed to improving the academic outcomes for all students along the PK-12 continuum. Therefore, the district will work together by identifying all its schools as Focus schools. All supports and reform efforts will be targeted to specific accountability groups in all schools as part of a district-wide reform effort.

All Focus Districts are required to submit a District Comprehensive Improvement Plan (DCIP) to the State Education Department by October 31, 2012. For the 2012-13 school year, the DCIP must be based on the findings and recommendations contained in the most recent School Quality Review, External School Curriculum Audit, Joint Intervention Team report, Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives Improvement Plan related to English Language Learners and Quality Improvement Process related to improvement activities for the subgroup of students with disabilities. These documents are provided below.

School leadership, staff, parents, and students, as appropriate, must have a meaningful opportunity to participate in the development of the plan and comment upon it before it is approved. The plan must be approved by the school board and made widely available through public means, such as posting it on the district’s website.

The Hudson City School District invites you to participate in the development of its plan. A District Leadership Team (DLT) meeting will be scheduled each week during the months of September and October for the sole purpose of developing the DCIP prior to the October 22nd Board of Education meeting where the plan will be recommended for approval.

Meetings will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 in the Junior High School Library and will include a light dinner:
