SADD Sponsors Grim Reaper Day

On April 7, 2009, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) sponsored Grim Reaper Day at the High School in an effort to prevent tragedy and remind teens to steer clear of drugs and alcohol.

Students participated in Grim Reaper Day at the High School

Grim Reaper Day was a day long activity that shows – not tells – students how easy it is and how random it is to become an impaired driving statistic.  Every 32 minutes throughout the day a student in America dies as a result of an alcohol related accident.

A student dressed as the Grim Reaper was seen throughout the day acting out the role death by stealing the precious life from selected students.  These students, dressed in black and with faces painted white, attended classes, but were not allowed to speak to anyone.  The Grim Reaper’s victims were given death certificates describing how they died.  Tombstones hung on their lockers.  During lunch, the Grim Reaper’s victims sat by themselves and at the end of the day they lined the hallways as a ghostly reminder to the rest of the student body leaving the building for the day.

The important message is that we are all connected.  Please don’t let death from alcohol or other destructive decisions break this chain of life.

For more information, please contact Patty Howe, Hudson High School’s SADD Advisor.
