Ron Brown Scholar Program:  to be eligible you must be a US citizen, current high school senior, Black/African American, and you should demonstrate academic achievement, exhibit leadership ability, participate in community service activities and have a demonstrated financial need.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline to apply is November 1 (for early consideration) and January 9 (final deadline).

WACE Scholarship:  must be a high school senior, have a 3.5 G.P.A ((90>), and be applying to one of the WACE Partner Instiitutions (Clarkson University, Derexel University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Oswego, The University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts Lowell, or Wentworth Institute of Technology).  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Application deadline is February 15, 2018 (postmarked).  The deadlines are different for Clarkson, Drexel, Merrimack, Oswego, and the University of Massachusetts Lowell).


Online Scholarships

Elks Legacy Awards:  must be a child, grandchild, step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2015, or a character member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2015.  The Elk member must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2018.  Great-grandchildren are not eligible.  Applicant must be a high school senior, must take the SAT or ACT by December 31, 2017.  Apply on-line at  Deadline to apply is February 2, 2018.

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest:  ANY high school senior who is a US Citizen may apply and applicant must take either the SAT or ACT on or before November 4, 2017.  Apply on-line at  Deadline to apply is November 27, 2017.

The Horatio Alger Scholarship:  must be a high school senior in the US, plan to attend college in the Fall of 2018, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree, demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and have a 2.0 G.P..A (73>).  To apply go to  Applications deadline is October 25, 2017.

2018 Albany Regional Brain Bee Competition:  anyone aged 13-19 can compete regardless of their academic standing.  The competition tests high school students in neuroscientific skill through examination in academic knowledge, as well as neuroanatomical, neurohistological, MRI, and patient diagnosis applications.  One of the Top 10 from 2017 was one of our own, Kayleigh McCagg.  For more information visit:  To register on-line go to:  Competition date is February 24, 2018.  Informational session is December 9, 2017.

Free Speech Essay Contest:  for high school Juniors and Seniors.  Must submit an essay between 800 - 1,000 word on the provided topic.  Apply on-line at THEFIRE.ORG/CONTEST.  Deadline is December 31, 2017.
