Board of education candidates

The Hudson City School District Board of Education will have one (1) Board vacancy on the May 2017 budget ballot. It is a three-year term, effective July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.

Carrie Otty

Carrie OttyI had been involved with parent-teacher groups since my children were small. I felt that I had a bit of knowledge about the school system. When my husband, Jeff, joined the School Board, it became apparent that I actually knew very little about the school and the Board of Education. I had been mainly raising funds for programs the school couldn't afford due to budget cut and State mandates. I realized through my husband’s service how little control the school had over many things, and the public had no idea.

After Jeff's passing, I felt that it was my responsibility to carry on where he left off. I want to make sure the public is informed. I'm not an up-front, in your face board member. I prefer to do my research and try to see both sides of the coin before I jump in, but my heart is always for doing what is best for our students.

I've been on the board for nearly five years now. I've seen bad times, and more recently good times. I hope to see the Capital Project through its end and keep learning in the process.
